2024 Thanksgiving One-Day Stableford
Member/Member or Member-Guest


Marty Henson & his guest Dan Gaither shot a gross best-ball 72, resulting in 38 Stableford points to capture victory in the Gross Division of this year's Thanksgiving Stableford. Marty and Dan tied for first place Gross with Doug Brown and Mike Malone who also scored 38 points, but Doug & Mike were beaten out on the scorecard playoff 21 points to 18 using the USGA's last 9,6,3,1 method.

First Place in the Net Division was captured by Bryan Key and Ron Kirkland with a net best-ball score of 68 (-4) yielding 48 Stableford points.

The father/son team of Chuck Schirtz & Zach Schirtz had a net best-ball score of 69 with 46 points to finish all alone in 2nd place.

3rd Place Net was won by Roger Berry & Terry Lancaster with another scorecard playoff, over Geoff Bloomquest and Connor Parsons. Both teams finished with 45 points, but Roger and Terry won the playoff on the third level of matching scores using the USGA's last 9,6,3,1 method. Both teams had 20 points on the last nine and 15 points on the last 6, but Roger & Terry had 8 points on the last three holes to eeke out the win by one point over Geoff & Connor who had 7 points over the last three holes.

NET:
1st place: Bryan Key and Ron Kirkland with 48 points

2nd place: Chuck Schirtz and Zach Schirtz with 46 points

All GGS members were invited to participate in the 2024 Thanksgiving Member/Member or Member/Guest Stableford Championship. The 18 hole handicap event was played on Friday, November 29 at Willow Creek Golf Club . Prizes were awarded for NET & GROSS winners.

Teams were comprised of two members, or a member and guest. There were no minimum or maximum handicap requirements for the teams.

Format: Two-man teams played 18 holes of Stableford competition, with the best ball of the two counting toward the team's score. Each player received 85% of his full handicap to determine the Stableford score on each hole. Points were awarded for each player's NET & GROSS score on the following scale:

Double Bogie = 0 Points
Bogie = 1 point
Par = 2 points
Birdie = 4 points
Eagle = 6 points
Double Eagle = 8 points

Entry Fee: $10 per player

HOLE IN ONE CLUB
Hole-In-One Club

Sign up for our Hole-In-One Club. If you make a hole-in-one everyone on the signup list will pay you $25, plus the club will sweeten the pot by $200!

  • You must be on the signup list on our website the night before a hole-in-one is made. (The list is automatically recorded on our website every night at midnight).

  • Only official GGS event play qualifies for Hole-In-One payout. No personal play qualifies... only official GGS events or play days.

  • When a member makes a qualifying Hole-In-One the club will make payment of the total pot. Each person on the registration list will be invoiced $25 to reimburse the club.

  • If a member has a credit balance on his account, that balance CAN be used for the HIO club payment.

  • GGS will sweeten the pot by $200 for every HIO payout
