Paul Burdulis & Nigel Delahunty Top 2026 "5th Major"

Paul Burdulis and Nigel Delahunty prevailed in a three-way playoff to top the 2026 5th Major by winning the Front and Overall 1st Place prizes.

Paul and Nigel won a three-way scorecard playoff for first place on the Front Nine with Ryan Dyess and his guest Dave Mauriello, and Geoff Bloomquist and his guest Bill Sharp. All three teams were -6 versus their Stableford quotas on the Front Nine. Paul and Nigel also finished in 1st Place for the Overall 18 hole score in a playoff with Ryan and Dave. Both teams were -13 versus their quotas. Ryan and Dave took 2nd Place prizes for both the Front and Overall.

Scorecard playoffs were based on a team's performance on the "Most Difficult" (highest handicap ranking) to "Least Difficult" holes on the course.

Christopher White and Mark Million took the 1st Place prize on the Back Nine with a score of -4 versus their quota. Trent Bouts and Broderick White finished in second on the Back with a score of -5.

With a field of 20 players the event was scored as a Team Stableford versus Quota, with prizes for the best team score on the Front Nine, the Back Nine, and the Total 18 holes.

QUOTA CALCULATIONS


Here are the details for the 2026 5th Major:

Format: Team Stableford versus Quota

  • Two-Man Teams scored both balls on a Stableford basis for a total team score over 18 holes.
  • Players were able to choose either the White or Blue tees.
  • Total Team Stableford scores were compared to Team Quota, based on tees players choose to play.
  • Prizes were awarded for best score versus quota on the front nine, back nine and overall 18 holes.
  • Quotas were determined by subtracting player's handicap from 36 (18 holes x 2 points for par)
  • Stableford scores were based on the following:
    Double Bogey or higher = 0
    Bogey = 1
    Par = 2
    Birdie = 3
    Eagle = 4
    Double Eagle = 5

Example:

Player A handicap playing White Tee = 12      Player A Quota from White Tee = 24 (36-12)
Player B handicap playing Blue Tee = 14        Player B Quota from Blue Tee = 22 (36-14)

18 Hole Team Quota = 46 (24 + 22)
Front Nine Quota = 1/2 of total = 23
Back Nine Quota = 1/2 of total = 23

If Player A & B combine for 26 points on the Front Nine and 19 points on the Back Nine their Score versus Quota would be:

Front Nine Quota = 23      Front Nine Actual = 26      Score Versus Quota = +3
Back Nine Quota = 23      Back Nine Actual = 19      Score Versus Quota = -4
18 Hole Quota = 46          18 Hole Actual = 45          Score Versus Quota = -1

Prizes:
$100 for Front Nine/Back Nine/Overall 1st Place teams
$ 50 for Front Nine/Back Nine/Overall 2nd Place teams

When: Sunday, October 25 (Tee Times began at 9:12am)

Where: Southern Oaks Golf Course ($55 for 18 holes, including carts & range)

2026 Matchplay Championship

The Matchplay Championship is a multi-week matchplay tournament played at full handicap.

All players who enter the tournament will be seeded by their current handicap index. Our USGA tournament software will divide the field into two brackets for the matches.

IMPORTANT: Players are responsible for scheduling their own matches... which may be played at any course on any day that suits the two competitors!

First Round Matches: This is the play-in round to reduce the field to 16. Play-in round matches must be completed by Sunday, August 23.

Second Round Matches: must be completed by Sunday, Sept 6 (Field of 16 is reduced to 8)

Third Round Matches: must be completed by Sunday, Sept 13 (Field of 8 is reduced to 4)

Semifinal Matches should be completed by Sunday, Sept 20

Final Match should be completed by Sunday, Sept 27 (or suitable date agreeable to the competitors).

  • All final-four competitors will receive a personalized trophy to recognize their achievement.
  • The championship runner-up will receive a $100 prize
  • The Matchplay Champion will receive a $200 prize

Tournament Entry Fee: $15 per player

ATTENTION: It is IMPORTANT for matches to be completed by their deadline in order for us to stay on schedule!

Reporting The Results Of A Match: when your match is completed please send the result to [email protected]. Be sure to include the "score," such as 1 up, 2&1, etc.

HOLE IN ONE CLUB
Hole-In-One Club

Sign up for our Hole-In-One Club. If you make a hole-in-one everyone on the signup list will pay you $25, plus the club will sweeten the pot by $100!

  • You must be on the signup list on our website the night before a hole-in-one is made. (The list is automatically recorded on our website every night at midnight).

  • Only official GGS event play qualifies for Hole-In-One payout. No personal play qualifies... only official GGS events or play days.

  • When a member makes a qualifying Hole-In-One the club will make payment of the total pot. Each person on the registration list will be invoiced $25 to reimburse the club.

  • If a member has a credit balance on his account, that balance CAN be used for the HIO club payment.

  • GGS will sweeten the pot by $100 for every HIO payout
